Two-vehicle crash with rollover on Red Arrow Highway leaves two teens in critical condition
VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to Red Arrow Highway at C.R. 681 in Hartford Township for a two-vehicle crash around 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday.
Deputies were informed one vehicle had rolled over and there were multiple injuries including an unresponsive female on scene receiving CPR from bystanders.
Deputies arrived with medical personnel and other officers. Authorities say life saving measures were performed until the injured parties could be treated and taken by EMS.
The initial investigation determined a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker, occupied by five teenage girls from Hartford, was traveling south on C.R. 681.
The report states the driver of the Tracker failed to stop at the stop sign at Red Arrow Highway and struck a 2012 Ford Focus, occupied by four Hartford men, traveling west.
The crash caused the Focus to rollover.
Deputies say several people in each vehicle were not wearing seatbelts and sustained injuries in the crash.
All involved parties were evaluated by EMS and taken to hospitals for treatment.
Two of the teenage girls suffered life threatening injuries and are listed in critical condition.
Both Red Arrow Highway and C.R. 681 were closed around the crash scene for about two and half hours, having since re-opened.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
