One hurt after Fourth of July shooting near downtown Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. -- One person is hurt after a shooting on the Fourth of July in Elkhart.

It happened that night around 11:38 p.m. at 1011 S. 2nd Street near downtown. Investigators say a suspect shot a 42-year-old man in the chest during a gathering outside that address.

Another person drove the victim to the hospital before police arrived on the scene. Investigators say he is in stable condition, and his wound appears to be non-life threatening.

No arrests have been made at this time.
